telewest or sky?
Ive been with Telewest for 6 years now-No real problems except we cant get as many s channels as sky but i really want the sky plus box as im always arguing over wot to watch on tv and it would be great to record the other show
is it worth switching over or should i wait for telewests new box which was supposed to be out this year and i havent heard anything recently about it?

Re: telewest or sky?
I've been with Tw and its predecessors for about 10 years and will be terminating my TV contract with them shortly. Ever since the introduction of Teleport, it has only worked for 24hrs in my house and has caused problems with the rest of the TV service. Cutting a long story, they can't fix it - it would appear to be an infrastructure problem in the area that is going to take ages to sort out. Even when they do get it sorted, you only get 'teleport replay' on a handful of channels and even then, it can be hit and miss. Having weighed up all the options and fed up for paying for a not half decent cable TV service, I'm switching to Sky+. My friends have this already and are hooting at the problems we are suffering with Telewest. Sky won't lag behind for long on the technology front and you get more channels for about the same monthly charge.

Re: telewest or sky?
thats exactly how im thinking stevie
personally i think teleport is a bit rubbish u only get about 20 programs to replay half of them i dont like and its not even working right now!
u get more channels on sky-im just worried about cancelling it and how long does it take etc-i dont want to be waiting ages for them to come round

Re: telewest or sky?
Im also stuck between the two. My parents have both telewest and SKY and they never watch telewest due to the pic. freezing half the time, and when i tried my LCD on them both to see the pic quality, the LCD look awful on telewest and great on sky - this did disapoint me as my partner and myself was going to go for Telewest.
When i look at sky and they announce something, they do a UK release and get it right, or sort out problems straight away.
Telewest anounce something, and it comes out 2 -3 years later ! and then its full of bugs and even the info menu when my parents want to see what the programm is about on telewest, it says "NO INFO etc..."
I think we might be going with SKY+........pitty.

Re: telewest or sky?
I'm having Sky+ installed next Tuesday!!! Can't wait - phone call took 10 minutes to arrange everything and you get free TV Guide every month and loads more channels. This after umpteen phone calls/emails to Telewest recently, speaking to three depts. who all told me different things and, when none of them worked, used the Telewest mantra "have you re-set the set top box?". They didn't seem to like my reply that I'm having to do it at least twice a day to keep the normal TV service limping along. I do so love guessing what's happening during a program when all I get is a weird, LSD trippy break up picture. Will cancel Telewest TV next week once the new Sky+ system is up and running. Cheers Steve

Re: telewest or sky?
I don't mind the month overlap - better to be safe than sorry and I'm keeping TW phone and internet anyway. To be honest, I'm not banking on paying any TV fees anyway at the moment - I'm hardly getting a service.
Sky don't care if you're lashed up to NASA, so long as it's a standard install for them and you have a working phone line in the same room at the Sky+ box, they'll take the money and install.
