Left NTL 3 months ago and..

moved on the 21st Feb
Wrote letter in on 16th Jan to cancel

no acknolegment of my letter, though was sent recorded..

Many calls in the month to clarify when...IF... the request to cancel had been carried out.

Eventually the day of the move they say my disconnection date is mid march!!
Informed their was a ONE MONTH backlog of people leaving!

expect the last bill, assuming that as services are paid in advance i would be even or get a refund of sorts.

Get a bill through saying i owe £40.
HOW THE HELL, i look closer and see they've billed me untill 28th when i moved out on the 21st.

Fair enough, a simple mistake... NO!
I disputed this, then informed in a sarcastic way, would i rather pay 40 or the remaining amount of my contract!

Given a address for the account queries dept??
to write in and try to get the date of discon taken back a week

Now ive had a letter from their credit comp saying i have to pay this bill otherwise a CCJ be given..

Stupid thing is there sending all correspondances to my old address so im releying on royal mail redirection!!

OH i cant wait till monday morning !!!

****

OH and btw i had to wait 14 months and countless calls to get my refund from an old dial up account...

oh and i work in ntl too!! :o

Re: Left NTL 3 months ago and..

If you didn't intend on sticking to the contract you shouldn't have taken the product out.

Saying that, if you move to a non Ntl address and have to cancel the product then I believe Ntl waver the £40/rest of the contract. Well that's what I was lead to believe. HTH

Oh and to the others in the thread, I thought this site was here to help people not berate them or try and make them look stupid. Just my

I agree but you would think that someone who works for NTL would read his contracts properly when taking out a service and not argue the toss about paying out his contract when he has admitted to cancelling it within the first 12 months.
I'm wondering how long he actually honoured his 12 month contract and as to if he has provided in writing his account details and details of his new address since his bills are still going to the old address (which will now incur a blacklist or CCJ if he doesn't pay since that is the address that is on the payment demands).

Since you were contracted for 12 months you aren't really paying beyond your usage date are you? You took up a contract for 12 months use of service, £40 is not a lot when you think of what you could have been billed. You haven't said when you took the contract out originally yet

Circumstances change all the time but you did enter into a contract, I would sugest contacting NTL billing again to discuss it with who ever is in charge of the billing department and tell them what happened. If it's got to the stage of being passed on to a debt colletion agency there cannot have been much discussion or offer of payment being made

If your new address isn't on the system against your account then nothing will be sent to an address that the billing system doesn't know about, don't forget there has been a massive change in the software used by the NTL support/ billing groups.
Why not just pay the £40 (to end the contract early etc) and move on? If you don't pay the money then anyone currently at that address will see a detrimental affect on their credit rating and may not be able to get any NTL services till the outstanding monies are paid.

Re: Left NTL 3 months ago and..

Was installed on sep 2nd, which was a ****er as was a day after tech support was outsourced..
I have no objection to paying what ive used, what i object too is the fact i requested my services to be cancelled in writting on 21st Feb, therefore i expect to pay for services up till 21st Feb, not the 28th.

I have had many calls to attempt to discuss this with cs, retentions etc

When i initally contacted NTL there was no questions about retaining services or paying out my contract; nothing was mentioned.

I will call tomorow...

There's no need to be such a jerk, if you look at my previous posts I'd said before that we're all here to try and help, but with an attitude like that no wonder you're not getting anywhere with NTL!

I'm off to tell myself off for feeding the green slimy one!
