Re: Cleaning a TFT monitor

I'm sure someone will tell me I'm doing it all wrong - but.....

I use a nice soft cloth to keep the dust off.

When it NEEDS cleaning I use tft wipes from PCworld.

Re: Cleaning a TFT monitor

I'd go for the dry cloth. I think you can buy wipes made for TFT screens these days though...

edit: OK, the guy above beat me... you can buy the TFT wipes

chop the kids fingers off , seriously though , if it aint touched then all it should need is a quick dust off with a clean dry cloth or maybe a gentle blast with a can of compressed air

Re: Cleaning a TFT monitor

I just wish I knew how to clean out the odd thunderfly that gets in between the tft and the light panel behind it.

I had one of these last year - luckily the little bugger died and fell down, but my dad has one still stuck in there.

Aldi are doing wipes for monitors, LCDs, TFTs, scanners, monitors coated glass etc for £1-79, works for me.

One of my m8's used to poke my tft whenever he saw something interesting ('because it goes all wibbly)....

Until I pointed out how much it would COST him if he did it again.

Re: Cleaning a TFT monitor

Just that there are smears on it and it annoys me, they have to go...

I'm gonna kill my nephew...

So can you get wipes from PC World? Any special type or will any old screen wipe do?

I tried that in all the vents but no luck I even tried shaking the panel fairly vigerously.

Make sure it has TFT wipe on it - ordinary wipes generally have chemicals in them. This is very VERY bad for your TFT.

TFT wipes are normally just damp.

As long as it's not liable to shed little bits - and not TOO damp - then nothing.

I only use tft wipes as I can keep a box in my laptop bag....
