Fast Telewest speeds a real possibility?
Everyone is talking about telewest plans for 8mb.10mb fast broadband, but are they real possibilities for the future?
What will the prices be, and will they be really expensive (4mb-£50 8mb-£60 etc..)
Or will they drop, so that the average user, paying £25, will be able to receive superfast speeds.
I am interested how telewest will price these faster speeds, so anyone have any ideas?

Re: Fast Telewest speeds a real possibility?
The cable network in theory has the infastructure to go much higher then even 8mb, but I beleif a lot of that infastructure needs expensive work before this is possible as some areas are strugerling coping with the demand the current speeds are giving.
As for prices, looking at past patterns of speed upgrades the speeds go up but the prices stay the same.

Think away, I have a feeling that their provisioning system won't be able to hold that many options, and the people with their hands on the purse strings may disagree with you somewhat as well

Re: Fast Telewest speeds a real possibility?
I've heard a rumour that Telewest are going to be doubling their speeds in the second half of the year, including the upload.
Then again I hear so many rumours, I just don't feel the need to post them on every forum I frequent.

Re: Fast Telewest speeds a real possibility?
it is a real possibility !
I had my ancient analogue stb upgraded to the pace digital one today and quizzed the engineers about broadband cable speeds as mine is currently 2meg.
The engineer advised "they are testing 8 - 18 meg speeds at the moment and that 22 meg was as fast as this could go with current technology."
