Broadband upgrades
Having only just joined the forum today, I discovered that the broadband connection I have been paying £17.99 pm for the last couple of years was actually running at 300k instead of the 1mb to which I am paying for. Thanks to the forum, I am now enjoying a faster connection. I just wonder how many mere mortals are unaware of their running speed, and shouldn't NTL be advising them how to upgrade?

Re: Broadband upgrades
This speed upgrade has only taken place recently, so you've not been paying more than you should have.

Re: Broadband upgrades
They are, I received my letter from Ntl last week giving details of the upgrade., granted it was almost a month after I had actually upgraded.
If Ntl had told every customer on day one, then the service would have gone into meltdown, advising and rolling out on an area by area basis makes sense to me.
BTW, before P 666 gets in . to CF

Re: Broadband upgrades
According to ntl today those who originally had to buy their own cable modem will NOT have their speed automatically upgraded. The requirement is for a new rented cable modem to be supplied at a cost of £5.00 per calendar month even though the cable modems bought are capable of such speeds. We did not ask to buy our own modems - we were forced into it.

Interesting how they would be able to control this once the automatic upgrades are done...
but anyway, if your modem breaks, how much would you pay to ntl to come and fix/ replace it for you with one that you would have to rent from then?

They did tell all customers about it, it has been on the home page for weeks. Best advice I can give you is every now and then look on ntlworld.com or this forum, the forum gets info out sometimes quicker than ntlworld can?!?!?
