2 monitors?

Right, I'm looking at the Screen Size options on my laptop when i notice i have another set. Now, with the first set (Monitor 1) i can only have 3 screen sizes while with the other (Monitor 2) i can have 10. Now, i wanna use the other one (Monitor 2) but the option to let me do so is greyed out. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Re: 2 monitors?

That option is for the other monitor ( the one you haven't got connected)
If you connect another one, it will give the options for that monitor

Re: 2 monitors?

So I can't use the other for my primary monitor? My mate said something about cloning the second monitor. Whats all that about?

Re: 2 monitors?

clone the first to your second i reckon , just be careful what you do or you may find yourself in a whole world of pain , like i did when i was outputting my graphics card to the tv in a different room and had to go running backwards and forwards between rooms to get it back to normal

Re: 2 monitors?

The other monitor settings with only 3 resolution settings will probably be because it is set/defaulted to TV out perhaps.
Clone setting means it will display the same on both monitors (as opposed to having a large desktop spread over two monitors).

there is an option to clone the desktops , it is nview desktop manager , you need to have both outputs from the gfx card connected to enable it

Re: 2 monitors?

If you select extend once tv/second monitor you get a screen with a back ground you can drag and drop windows over to it or select them to run there by default,I see you run nvidia as long as the drivers newish, connect second monitor then when your at the stage in the pics click advanced then click on geforce tab and then display settings this will give you clone setting or other options. You can make second monitor default it has to be attached first(before said settings can be made)

Re: 2 monitors?

have you tried the older ones????By rights you should uninstall old driver first but you might run into problems if you do this and cant get a driver installed,I would try a driver around 40 or lower i know 27.** should work according to dell as this would have been older detonator driver

Re: 2 monitors?

Right, got this far. I've marked 'clone', but when i click number two, the 'Make screen primary' thing goes unchecked, and if you check it it goes back to screen no.1
