Tuning TV to Digital Signal
I have an NTL broadband connection. When it was installed the engineer split the signal and fed it to my TV. I have tuned in the channels 1-5 and also 3 news channels. There are a few other channels but I canââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t get them tuned in. Is there any way I can boost the signal so I can tune in these channels? I donââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t want to get a digital box that I need to have a monthly subscription for.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
those are analogue signals, not digital.
and if you can't get them tuned in, they won't tune in. they're out of the frequency range of your tv, or they're encrypted.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
Sorry for being a Muppet but I thought that all you had to do with a Freeview box was connect it to an analogue signal from a normal TV Ariel.
So if I am receiving an Analogue signal are you sure that it wont work.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
yep. you're getting an analogue cable signal, and analogue tv transmissions.
freeview is still a digital signal, although it's sent via analogue signals. Not unlike a dial-up modem, or sinclair spectrum games.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
It will not work in a month of sundays....the freeview box picks the digi signals from the mast you get your analogue signals from. It is a physical impossibility to change a analogue sig to a digi one in your home.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
Freeview is available in the Glasgow area, so if I get a set top box, and plug the box into my existing communal Arial socket then it will work, yes? Or am I completely misunderstanding what is supposed to be a very simple process.

The signal has to be a very good one to get 100% pics from the freeview box.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
I get a perfect picture from the NTL line the engineer set up so surely Freeview will work from that.

Re: Tuning TV to Digital Signal
are you doing this on purpose? If you've got a communal RF aerial point (NOT THE NTL ONE!) then you might get a decent reception on a freeview box. It's entirely dependent on the wiring and the actual aerial though, whether you'll get a good enough signal.
