Re: Hmmm! Not sure how to take this...

Personally I find it rather interesting in and of itself. New knowlage is always good IMHO. On the other hand, what will we do with this at a point in the future when human dna can be manipulated. Will people call for gene-theropy to erradicate genetic disorders, to extend the human life-span?

But thats another debate, and another thread alltogether.

Headlines for tomorrow:

"Top scientist geeks say women are hard to understand."

Surely that's just their opinion? Or maybe their own experience?

Men also have another reason for feeling upbeat about their genetic lot. New Scientist reports that although men are more likely to be mentally retarded, they are also more likely to be geniuses.

Although the average IQ of men and women is equal, men are more frequently found at both extremes of intelligence.

This is because, if you have very good intelligence genes on your X chromosome, it pays not to have them muffled by more average genes on another X chromosome.

Re: Hmmm! Not sure how to take this...

Actually, if you're interested coggy......... there's a very readable book called 'The X in sex - How the X chromosome controls our lives' by David Bainbridge, in fact there are quite a few that have sprung up over the past 15 months or so, but i found this one is a little more accessible Makes for incredibly interesting reading.

It's funny where research takes us and the changes that will ensue in our cultural belief systems....... eventually...... after hundreds of years of women being blamed (in most extreme cases killed/maimed) for not producing a son and heir...... it was discovered (years ago now) that the sex of our offspring was actually dictated by the male parent and not the female. Well, that is until science made it possible to choose

Well i find it all very interesting anyway
