New Account - How To Make it as Diff. as possible
OK. My partner has moved out. He is the account holder for our Blueyonder account. We have been trying to set things up so that I am the named account holder. Apparently, he has to cancel his account.., all the equipment has to be taken away and then I have to have cable 'reinstalled' and the equipment will be brought back. Of course, it means that I will be without a phone, net connection, cable tv etc while waiting for 'installation'. I have no idea for how long.
I find this extremely irritating and a complete waste of time. I was prepared to open a new account (as long as I get 'new user' discounts that are available) but am NOT prepared to hang around while equipment is taken away, the new account set up and probably the same equipment is brought back. What on earth is Blueyonder thinking of making such a hassle out of something that should be just a matter of typing in a few new details? Relationship breakdown is hardly an unusual thing - why force clients to go thru this laborious and to me, meaningless procedure? Is is too much for me to expect that my ex should be able to cancel the account, me set up a new one and a few buttons pressed to make this happen (preferably all on the same day).
Methinks Blueyonder will be losing a client fairly soon.

hi and to the site , it does seem rather strange to be honest , have you thought about ringing them back up again and seeing if you get a different answer

If they insisted on removing it from my house then it would stay removed. I would ask to speak to a supervisor and make it clear that you will get your Phone/BB/TV from elsewhere if they don't drop such a crazy attitude.

Very odd. BTW, another reason for not letting this happen is that it's quite likely that a new install wil lock you into a new 12 months contract.

Have you tried asking them to add you as a 3rd party mandate/access (requires your ex-partner to add you). Once you are on there, you make changes to your account, and you should be able to remove your ex-partner's name.
Why they can't just change the name though, is beyond me.

Re: New Account - How To Make it as Diff. as possible
Thank you for all your comments. Unfortunately, cause my partner is the account holder, he has to make the phone calls to change the account etc as mentioned. I gather part of the problem is once he closes the account, they will send him a close of account bill which has to be paid, possibly before they will set up a new one (he's a bit vague about that lol). I obviously agree that the situation seems quite ridiculous. If the account in my ex's name was cancelled, yes I would have to set up as a new account holder with a 12 month min. contract but the bonus to that is that I would get the same discounts as any new account holder so felt I could put up with that. I can't however, put up with having no service for an intervening period whilst waiting for equipment to be removed and put back lol! I don't think he's tried to set me up as a 3rd party.
I will phone them myself tomorrow and see if they will deal with me (its not customer services that deal with this, different no. etc. Customer services said that changing accounts could be done easily, this dept doesn't seem quite as flexible to put it mildly) .., I may get different answers.

if your name is not on the account or has been added as a name to talk to on that account then they will not talk to you simple as that

This is possible to do. All you need to ask for is to be sent a Transfer of Responsability form. But either way you will be in a 12 month contract im afraid
