Question Forum codes

ok an example for you as your probably thinking what the hell is he on about.

In the thread view way down the page there is a box which displays which codes are enabled for the forum:

vB Code is on
Smilies are on
IMG Code is on
HTML is off

yet it strikes me that loads of people who are web developers post a lot of html on the forums and dont get any errors.

So if the html is off why is html still posted. Shouldn't it come up with an error or something?

Re: Forum codes

Where have people put html code that's been displayed?

The forum software will simply not 'decode' the code, so to speak when this option is turned off and will leave it as actual code.

Re: Forum codes

The HTML mode doesn't mean it will remove any coding that is posed in HMTL, it just stops people from posting a whole website in there post (and actually show up as a website).

The HTML isn't parsed, you can still quote HTML using code tags.

e.g. you can't change the font colour to red using <font style="color:red">your text here</font> but you can show the tags that could be used in an HTML document to do so by using code tags, i.e.

Code:
<font style="color:red">your text here</font>
