Re: Change pictures to Colour

Do you mean like that "pop art" guy?
I know they used to make fake colour films by filming in black & white then painting the frames in different colours to make "colour".

No I think he means colourization like films, is it possible to guess colours from a B&W photograph IE for the comp to do it for you, i've often wondered.

In all honesty you're going to have your work cut out for you.

For instance programs like Photoshop have a "colorize" option which you could use, but what you'd have to do is select an appropriate flesh tone from another image and select the face to colour it, then find one for the lips, eyes etc however it's never going to look that impressive, also trying to colour the hair (especially given how windswept it is) is going to be an absolute nightmare, because you're going to have to colour each section practically individually!

In all honesty it's never going to be a great photo even if you've done all that.

Re: Change pictures to Colour

It can be done, but her hair is all over the place, and its difficult to isolate areas to change the colour.

But if you have the patience, you can look here

http://www.sitepoint.com/article/web...ts-tutorials/3

This shows you how to do it - but he takes the easy way out with clearly defined edges.

Good luck.

Re: Change pictures to Colour

Well you could colourise it using sepia toning. Here is my attempt. I also had to manually edit one of the colours.

Re: Change pictures to Colour

As TheBlueRaja says you can do it but its very hard because of the hair. Using photoshop you effectivelty break the picture up into layers and each layer you apply some colouring too. However, as you dont want the picture the be all the same colour you need to remove items from certain layers. This is relatively easy to do with an object such as a car as there are very fixed borders between objects and shade changes, but with hair that is floaty as in your picture its almost impossible to use this technique.

There are a number of photoshop guides on the net on how to do this sort of stuff. Might be worth having a read of some of them

ahhhhhh just read TheBlueRaja's link. Just what i was trying to say
