STB Fault?

Not sure if this is a fault with our STB or not but I thought I'd ask whether others have the same experience.

When I switch channels up/down with the zapper you normally get a little popup box on the screen showing what's currently showing on the new channel, and what's coming next.

This works fine for a couple of days, then I get the popup box and find that the information on channels is completely missing. It's a right pain in the posterior.

Power cycling the STB cures it, until next time. Looks to me as though the STB gets a memory full condition and can't then download/display any further channel information.

Re: STB Fault?

Sounds like a Pace STB? (The black one). This was a common problem. One or two people on here have put their STBs on a timer to switch off and on in the early hours of the morning, to avoid having to cycle the power manually.

Re: STB Fault?

Thanks guys. Yep, it's the black PACE box, we've had it the best part of 10 years now so I would guess it's quite ancient.

Sounds like I need to place a service call tomorrow then.

Re: STB Fault?

Oh yeah, forgot to add the other "fault". Frequently I hit the channel up/down with the zapper, or try to change the volume, and it just sits there for maybe 2 minutes before responding again. It does eventually respond, but it's sooooo annoying.
