Angry NTL Analogue Switched Off???

Hi Everyone!

I'm not in the UK at moment, but my wife phoned me last night to say that she had got home from work to find that NTL had cut our analogue TV service off!

She phoned them to be told that they are very sorry but they are phasing out the analogue service and that our area in New Ash Green had been completely switched off as of last night!!!

I am unable to phone out to NTL from here, but wondered if anyone could enlighten me at all??

Cheers

Simon

Hi and to the site,

to be honest it sounds a load of rubbish what your wife has been told, as even ntl aren't stupid enough to turn a service off without prior warning !!!

very true!!

But i honestly can't see ntl start to switch off analogue without any press release or anything as it is a MAJOR step!! they still have over half a million people on the service

Re: NTL Analogue Switched Off???

I have no idea of the specifics as they relate to the area in question here but, what is the actual analogue service your receiving?

1, A "full" service with a STB and multiple channels that you pay a bill for.
2, Just the Off Airs ie 1-5 as part of a legacy deal from Redifusion/Metro/Maxwell etc, available with or without a STB dependant on the local history sometimes free of charge or a nominal fee paid by the landlord/council.
3, Again a "full" service but in a property that was originally part of a legacy deal from Redifusion/Metro/Maxwell etc.

If its 1 then its very unlikely that the service has been switched off, if its either 2 or 3 then that would account for the uncertainty on behalf of cust services as a lot of those properties were never correctly entered or updated on the various billing systems.

Its my understanding is that some of the type 2 scenarios have been switched off in the past which is what may have happened here.
