Question ntl Base and Family Packs

We are paying £19.50 for telephone and Digital Base Pack and another £9.50 for the Family pack.

Could anyone here tell me what exactly the base pack and family packs include.
We asked NTL this one and they said that the base pack was included in the family pack, if this is so, this is something we should not be paying for, so do we really need both?

I'm totally confused, please help

Re: NTl Base and Family Packs

The £9.50 is for the phone line.

ntl try to hide the fact that you have to pay for it by telling you it's free, but their TV packs are £9.50 dearer than the Sky equivalent.....

Re: NTl Base and Family Packs

The Family Pack has over 100 channels, including & encompassing the 40+ channels in the base pack.

£29.00 is correct, as Neil says, including the Line Rental.

Re: ntl Base and Family Packs

Apart from Sky 1, is there much in the base pack that isn't also available on freeview?

edit - mind you it still doesn't list itv3 so maybe it's just VERY out of date

Sky Value Pack £13.50 with no freeview channels or E4 includes Discovery H&L, Sky One and a load of pap.

If you want a Telephone you will still have to pay £9.50 or £10.50 with BT.

So total price is £23 for Sky Equivilent or £24 with BT and LESS channels.

This was stopped some time ago and the price is now quoted on the website as £19.50 plus £9.50 line rental which must be taken with the TV pack.

Because it's hidden in the small print at the bottom of the page, perhaps poor wording on my part as they no longer (on the website anyway) say it's free, but they still force you to take it by offering a price for DTV (£19.50 ) that simply isn't available.
