disconnected stb....

does anyone know whether it's possible to use the old pace set top box from my ntl digital which has now been cut off to view freeview channels or the free ntl channels? the digital tv was disconnected about a year ago and i've never thought to plug it in and try it.... will it do anything?

cheers,

Mike

Re: disconnected stb....

I thought you had to return your STB once you cancel your services?

correct.... it remains property of ntl and according to the t & cs you should return it at your own cost at the end of the contract period

mjd12345!

Any digital STB will be useless without a currently valid and paired smart-card so, no, you will not be able to use it to view any channels.

Re: disconnected stb....

But the NTL coax does transmit chanels 1-5 in a format sutable for decoding by a standard tv reciever. So plug the cable in the back of your telly and you get 5 (and sometimes a few) more channels.

NTL cable does not broadcast Freeview signals so if you plug a freeview box into it you get nothing.
