I think that the standard party line is that they have no plans to offer it yet, but I am sure that someone here will be able to quote something 'official' at you.

What (legally) would you do with all that bandwidth?
And how quickly would you hit the cap?

Extra Speed is always nice for hosting games.. Even though a higher upload would be more benificial..
Downloading's obviously also better.. You can now download full games , play them for 1 hour, then buy em online.. thats not illegal.
Oh, And the cap comes into it again.. (as usual), NTL are very very lax with it.. I myself have gone over it quite a few times.. Guess What, You'l never believe me!.. They havnt contacted me!!!..
Telewest have released 2mbit anyway.

I was asking, not assuming. Personally I just use 600k and couldn't wish for more, so naturally I have no understanding of what a 2mb line might be used for. As I'm a law-abiding citizen (usually ) I was only interested in what you could legally do with 2mb.
Just feeding my curiosity, that's all.

just to let you know you could download ANY of the liniux distros wich are usually 3 cd's big legally free of charge ( hell redhat 8.0 was 5 cd's big ) ..... plus you can download demo games that sometimes can be over a gig big it really is easy to go over the cap...... specially if there is more than one person using the connection ( as your allowed 3 pc's connected to one ip) ... another way of reaching that nice little cap is by streaming media..... you can rent films on line that you can download ....

Now there's a good point ... I'm quite partial to the 80s mix on www.wolffm.com. I access the 128k stream, so how long would I have to leave this open on my machine in order to hit the cap? (I'm rubbish at maths)

Personally, i abuse the cap every day for stuff i randomly choose, never heard a word from em and when i do, there answer will come in, in under 10 words.
If 2 mbit was available i doubt i would consider it though, it would be twice the cost of 1mb and also you wouldnt need all the b/w, even for downloading "illegal stuff" 1mb would be / is enough.

About a day tbh but there are 256K streams and higher. It's fair to say that if you listen to online radio all day it will take a huge chunk out of your download quota.
