Are there any telco faults in the Lincoln area?

The quality of my phone line has deterioated over the last day - firstly , the line quality went from bad to awful, then anyone trying to phone my number got 2 rings, before an awful crackling/white noise was the only thing that could be heard, all the while, my telephone does not ring. Finally, within the last 10 minutes, while actually "on hold" trying to report a fault to NTL, the phone line is now dead for outgoing calls too (no dial tone even, just white noise and crackling).

Any ideas?

Sounds like a earth problem on the line you will need a engineer to come out have a look outside to see if you can see and damaged cables. Or wait for the engineer to come out

Thanks - I was thinking it was something like that too...Can't see any thing obvious though.

Well, still no change, and still unable to contact NTL to report the fault...
Is there an email address or a different phone number I can use to just report the fault, as I cannot afford to wait for over 45 mins on hold , using my mobile phone.
