looking for an end program program

Hi all, is there a program out there that will kill all non essential running programs ?? I am using XP home with sp1, I've tried looking through Ctrl>Alt>Del in the task manager but most of it goes over my head, wouldn't know what to touch and what to leave.

If your system is running fine without any slowdown I wouldn't even bother.

Thats just it, sometimes when we are all logged on ( 4 or 5 at once ) with various progs running there is a definite lag, soooooo,is there such a prog ????

Well really Ctrl,alt,delete is the best option, although I know you were asking for alternatives (Which im not even sure there is).

Just go into processes and click the 'Username' tab at the top to list them in order.. (IE, System ones all lumped together, etc)

As a general rule of thumb, you have to leave all system ones running..and majority of the ones that have your username by you can close. When gaming I close pretty much everything.

I used to use EndItAll.

You can set which processes you want to keep running and then click a button and it will kill all processes that you haven't selected.

Well log off then instead of pressing Win + L- only one of you can use the PC at once!

Yeah, XP is supposed to be more multi-user (ie, concurrent users) than previous versions of Windows, but I still find it pretty poor. My PC at home can crawl when all 3 accounts are in use.
