i get this every now and then as well. I just change channels and then back again. If that doesn't work a reboot usually works

Itâ₠¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s not a NTL problem I have been told but they are working with the powers that be so CS would not be able to help me thinks. Is it like my problem with BBC and ITV channels? if it is it's not your STB

DTV has a video signal and an audio signal independantly sent, a DVD works the same, these should remain in sync as they are both the same length etc, however they do not in your case. Whereas on a Video tape these are along side oneanoter on the tape so cannot get out of sync, in the digital world, they are two separate files being decoded by two applications, so this sync slip can occur.
Changing channel and retuning back should fix it as the box has to start recieving the video and audio and both will start from a new point 0 where they are in sync.
The post above indicates there is a transmission problem, not something an engineer could fix. I'll add that I do not notice it on a Pace 4010 on the Langly platform (though I have to restart one of the Austin Powers DVDs 2-3 times as the audio looses sync

Audio gets even more out of sync the longer its on, the Audio is noticbly behind whats on the screen.

That would make sense it means the timing of the audio decoder and video decoder are marginally out, this margin will build over time.
e.g, say it is 1/100s out ever 60 secs, after 1 min it is 1/100 sec out. By the end of a 2 hour movie it is 1.2 seconds out.
Tuning away and back to the channel should put them back in sync, then the slippage will build again.
