Smile Changing Channels from another room???

Hi.

I'm kinda new here, and dont really know much about the cable TV and the set top box (STB - is that right?) I have. But, I have the age old thing of wanting to be able to change channels on the STB in another room, as I have the cable going to the bedrooms via the coax on the back, then up the wall etc...

I belive that I have a Pace DI4001N, at least thats whats on a label on the bottom, with the flap on the left for the card, and the purple/blue 'bullet' remote with the silver buttons on the side.

Ive looked at the other posts there have been, and have read about the different IR protocols that the different boxes use, and the issues with IR extenders etc... but to be honest, im having a few issues following it and understanding what I am looking for!

So, can anyone reccommend to me a product, that is fairly cheap that would meet my needs?

Thanks in advance, and thanks for letting me join in!

Regards

Rob

Re: Changing Channels from another room???

We actually did this when I had NTL.

It was routed through the coax up to my brothers room.. since it was directly above the living room where the box was located we routed some optical fibre through the floor and discretly aimed it at the box from the corner of the ceiling.

Worked a treat, you just just aim into the optical fibre and it'd change

Was quite annoying tho'... One second I was downstairs watching the footy, next second Cartoon network came on

I use a Powermid by Marmitek. You can buy them online for about £25.

Basically you put one unit within the ir vicinity of the stb then the other in the room where you want to control the stb from.

I used a second remote control bought of ebay for £2

All works excellent
