Lightbulb works vertical!!

i have a pace box which gets very hot after 30 mins or so and i loose picture and sound. taking the power cable off and putting it back after it has cooled seems to work but i have to do this regularly, since then i have put the box vertical instead of lateral and since it hasnt given me a problem. any one facing same trouble

Always had our STB vertical and it still overheated now and then but not so often. STB's do seem to run warm enough to double up as a nice warming hob for snacks and drinks though.
If it's overheating to point of faillure every 30 mins you really need to look at where it is situated/ ventilated and if there don't seem to be any problems there then you may have to question NTL as whether the STB is functioning properly.

Re: works vertical!!

the card seems to be ok. but ntl is not ready to believe that theres something wrong with the box the engineer had come and set the box lateral again it worked for half hour and returned to no pic/sound. i have told the engineer that it works vertical not lateral but the engineer was adamant it doesnt matter.

It DOES matter - they should be horizontal. nidash - if there's a good ventilation space around the box, and it's not sat on a carpet etc, you need to get ntl out again.
