Email Protest
Want to protest about how bad NTL email service is ?
Well dont just move your email elsewhere as that lightens the load on NTL.
How about this for an idea ? It's just a theoretical idea remember, and I'm not in any way advocating that we do so.
We get 15 accounts with broadband. How about setting them all up, and then using them to post on webpages, usenet news groups, sign up for mailing lists etc. We do NOT ever check them. They fill up........
Work out the rest for yourself.

Re: Email Protest
Overloading the mail servers is not only selfish towards legitimate users but I'd also give great odds on it making no difference to way they're currently run.

Re: Email Protest
Bifta and Paul M - true!
But Bifta - what do you mean "legitamate users" ? So the upset people here are not?
It's a way of showing how displeased, to put it mildly, customers are.
"Have you phoned CS?", does not always get much done. I've been a customer of ntl/comtel for I don't know how many years! When we're dealt with 'one at a time' by CS nothing happens. And it's not the fault of the person at CS answering the phone.
Put all the impending redundancies on top of that and where are we?!
The SYSTEM is at fault. How can customers change that - other than talking with their money and going elsewhere or making a fuss and making life difficult for ntl. It's surely for the benfit of ALL ntl customers! ?
Rant over.
But still no mail ...

Given the choice, even as a disgruntled user I'd rather not have someone deliberately inhibiting my service even further.

It's also possibly illegal, deliberately registering accounts to purely bring down an email server will probably land someone (deservedly so) in court and or prison.

Yes, the system is as fault, but if you think for one minute that doing something like he's suggested is going to change it in any way for the better then you're seriously deluding yourself. There are hundreds of other free email providers, what is the problem with registering for one? (let's leave out the whole "we pay for email, we expect it to be working" because by your own admission you don't think NTL are going to fix the problem)

Re: Email Protest
If the contents of some Poster's emails is equivalent to the content of their posts, then the loss of it it no hardship,

Re: Email Protest
Bifta:I was agreeing with MW in principle.
"There are hundreds of other free email providers" ..
Can you recommend one? I've spent most of the last few hours trying to sort one out. I'd appreciate some help.

Re: Email Protest
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a reliable mail provider. I'd still like to use OE if possible.

Re: Email Protest
I use virgin.net as my backup - I can't remember them ever having an outage (and I have used them for about 7 years now).

Re: Email Protest
Never had any problems with Yahoo. Though sites like this one, require you to use your ISP address.

Thanks Mal.
Yes - I know.
Have been using Yahoo a lot this week.
Still doesn't get ntl to get their act together. (

Re: Email Protest
How about move to ADSL if you can get it, and tell ntl where to stick their rubbish service?

Only posted it because after a discussion down my local about peaceful protests
.. everybody hoarding their small change
.. everybody using the biggest note possible to pay for goods
.. everybody saying NO i wont buy a new car when the new registration comes out
that sort of thing, I come back home and find surprise surprise NTL email is down, not that it bothers me now I use spymac and BT now.
Is there a peaceful protest that NTL customers could, en-mass make to get a better service ? Short of everybody leaving that is.
