My best freeware would be avg from http://www.grisoft.com/

Ramrod · 22-02-2004, 20:30

Spybot and most of the stuff that has been mentioned already

altis · 22-02-2004, 20:48

I nominate Power Desk from Vcom. The 'free-download' button is on the RHS.

This is an excelent Windows Explorer replacement.

http://www.miranda-im.org/ (as a previous trillian subscriber I gave away my licence after finding this.. it's that good)

http://www.leechget.net/ (my favourite download manager without the adware or spyware you get with other similar products)

http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/ (easily the best free FTP client - and getting better all the time)

http://www.avantbrowser.com/ (the best of the large number of tabbed IE front end browsers currently available) http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ -> the best of the rest

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/thunderbird/ (my email client of choice)

http://www.openoffice.org/ (no introduction required here)

http://www.izsoft.dir.bg/download.htm (the most comprehensive and highly optimised file archiver - use the 7-zip format.. trust me you'll like it

also a good time to remove that illegal copy of winzip you've had past it's shareware limit)

http://www.almico.com/speedfan410.exe (similar to motherboard monitor.. but better in my opinion.. )

http://www.zonelabs.com/store/conten...id=zadb_zadown (by far and away the best free personal firewall)

Ramrod · 22-02-2004, 23:35

The Ad-Aware 6: Reference Guide by Winchester73 from Bop's list above is well worth a read. I scanned using adaware's custom scan and found a lot of stuff that this mornings scan didn't

Read the guide and do it now, you might be shocked, I was!
