Problem with NTL world email account

yep im back again on my second problem.

to do with my NTL email account

my email account has been going thro OUTLOOK EXPRESS until lately without any problems but just recently as soon as it authorises to ntls pop.ntlworld.com account i get server terminated connection. Thinking this was a bug on my system i tried my partners account on her pc and mine and both were fine. so i thought what do i do now. I know i'll try the webmail. With a little bit of success i manged to get most of my emails but it still showed page 1 in my inbox as having 20 emails but the website wont list these. now im wondering if somehow a virus or something has got into the account at ntl's end and one is blocking me connecting to the rest and stopping them listing on webmail page .

thanks for your time and hope you can help

Hi zappster,

Seems you have tried both Outlook and webmail so here is alternative.

Have you tried to telnet it as they may be an offending mail blocking your download etc.

To telnet it try the following -

To telnet the mail server:
Click onto Start then Run
type telnet pop.ntlworld.com 110 - press enter
+OK InterMail POP3 server ready.
type user then a space then your user.name - press enter
+OK please send PASS command
type pass then a space then your password - press enter
+OK user.name is welcome here

This logs you into the pop server.

type list.

Identify the mail you think is causing the problem and type DELE 1 or whichever number corresponds.

Then type quit to close the telnet connection.

That should then bin the offending mail.

Go back to outlook express and try redownloading send/receive.
