NTL SMTP servers

My girlfriend sent me an email and it took 4 days to arrive. Emails regularly get lost. So I started to investigate.
I know (from the mailog) that the email left my machine and it went to the NTL smtp server. It then disapeared. This happens 1-2 times a day, sometimes it goes to a black hole sometimes it gets delivered in a few hours/days....

I called tech support asking them to have a look at their mailogs to see what happened. But NTL will not talk to me because

I do not use Outlook express! (is it really safe to use it?)
My "from" addy is not @ntlworld.com...

I ain't arguing with them idiots, I am seting up my own smtp server...

Post Edited - please do not resort to potentially insulting language when referring to people (Paul).

Re: NTL SMTP servers

I was thinking of doing the same.
Just a bit worried that mails may get bounced as spam due to originating from a dynamic IP.

Re: NTL SMTP servers

The smtp servers have been up & down like bloody yoyo's over the last two days. However none of my mails seem to have been delayed. I have my own smtp servers as a backup if necessary as well.
