Unhappy Lose IP address frequently when uploading

Hi,

I am connected through a Pace 1000 STB, and when I am uploading i frequently loose the net connection (i.e. loose IP address). The only way I get one back is by rebooting the STB (not the PC).

Is this a known problem? If so, is there any resolution?

Thanks in advance

Gary

Re: Loose IP address frequently when uploading

Sounds familiar - Pace DiTV 1000, and it messed up three times in succession, trying to upload a 5Mb file to a freeware site.

Re: Loose IP address frequently when uploading

Apologies for dragging an old thread up on my first reply here at the Cable Forum.

I too have suffered from a DiTV1000 dropping its connection after an extended period of uploading.
Several engineer visits later and I'm now using the Stand Alone Cable Modem, and after stress testing the upload for the last 12hours things seem to be normal again.

If you contact customer services and ask them to migrate you over to the SACM then you should be ok.

Cheers.

Re: Loose IP address frequently when uploading

I believe that you need to limit the upload speed of STB's to stop the box crashing. Set the upload speed on the app/ftp client you are using (if possible) to about 75% of you total upload speed.

NB BloodyL is correct though - get a SACM if you can.
