Convert video files

I'm looking for a nice and simple program for converting between video formats. I need it to accept .VOB .AVI .MPG .WMV, Divx and Xvid files and output in Divx, Xvid, AVI and WMV.

I found a nice program called "Advanced X video converter (3.7) but they want money for it, and I'm sure there must be some free programs that'll do what I want.

Anyone?

Re: Convert video files

For working with .avi files (DivX/XVid) you should use VirtualDub:
http://www.virtualdub.org/
For wmv I suppose Windows Movie Maker would do the job, this can output in DV PAL too.

Re: Convert video files

You could try Bink and Smacker from Rad Video Tools at http://www.radgametools.com/binkhcon.htm

It claims to be able to convert almost any format into any other format, although it does have problems with, eg .avi files that have sound embedded instead of as a seperate channel, still it's free!
