AVG scanning deleted files ????

Hi all

I recently had a bit of a clear out of old files on my PC.

When I run AVG I can see it scanning files that I thought I deleted. Ie when I run a search for the files type it finds 'zero' files but when AVG runs it still appears to be scanning them.

Any ideas. Regards

Mike

Re: AVG scanning deleted files ????

They are probably in the <drive>/Recycled/ directory which is normally hidden.

Re: AVG scanning deleted files ????

Check the Recyle Bin on your desktop first, just right click the icon and select the Empty option.
Then, run the Hard Disk Cleanup program on each of your drives.

Re: AVG scanning deleted files ????

Well the only way to find out for sure is to watch AVG while it scans, it should give you the full path name.

Re: AVG scanning deleted files ????

Does Windows make TWO backups of everything?A sort of secondary hidden folders?

I do know it's a bug of earlier IE's that some URLs were stored in a second temp file.http://www.fsm.nl/ward/

Incog.

Hmm, that's wierd.
I know that files are not really "deleted" but the File Allocation Table is just altered to trick the OS.
Maybe it's something to do with that?

Re: AVG scanning deleted files ????

Could be some reference to the files still in the registry that AVG is picking up. Search the registry for the file names.
