Kremlin papers appear to show Putin’s plot to put Trump in White House
File under: Not a shocker!
Quote:
Vladimir Putin personally authorised a secret spy agency operation to support a “mentally unstable” Donald Trump in the 2016 US presidential election during a closed session of Russia’s national security council, according to what are assessed to be leaked Kremlin documents.
The key meeting took place on 22 January 2016, the papers suggest, with the Russian president, his spy chiefs and senior ministers all present.
They agreed a Trump White House would help secure Moscow’s strategic objectives, among them “social turmoil” in the US and a weakening of the American president’s negotiating position.
Russia’s three spy agencies were ordered to find practical ways to support Trump, in a decree appearing to bear Putin’s signature.
By this point Trump was the frontrunner in the Republican party’s nomination race. A report prepared by Putin’s expert department recommended Moscow use “all possible force” to ensure a Trump victory.
Western intelligence agencies are understood to have been aware of the documents for some months and to have carefully examined them. The papers, seen by the Guardian, seem to represent a serious and highly unusual leak from within the Kremlin.
The Guardian has shown the documents to independent experts who say they appear to be genuine. Incidental details come across as accurate. The overall tone and thrust is said to be consistent with Kremlin security thinking.

Doubt it'll make any difference to his supporters in much the same way it won't if it turns out they meddled in Brexit, anything goes these days with a lot of people as long as they get the result they want. I'd say these documents being leaked was convenient but it isn't really, the election is long over

Documents seem to be 'leaked' to the media all the time, I place them in the same file* as documents 'found' in the back of a taxi or behind a rubbish bin on the high street.
Or maybe security in the places that matter aren't up to scratch due to incompetence, because surely nothing's done deliberately to cause a fuss eh?
* easier than releasing a statement that could have repercussions

Same goes for any fake documents.

The overall tone and thrust is said to be consistent with Kremlin security thinking.
|
Also consistent with the agenda of anti-Trump supporters.
Quote:
A matter of weeks after the security council meeting, GRU hackers raided the servers of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and subsequently released thousands of private emails in an attempt to hurt Clinton’s election campaign.
|
Attempts were also made on Republicans servers. It was the Democratic campaign that happened to succumb to any phishing(?) attempt. How many people DON'T have a phishing attempt made against them?
Any damage to the Clinton campaign, arose from the TRUTH in those documents.
Quote:
The story begins in May, when the Democratic National Committee (DNC) became concerned about suspicious behaviour on its computer network. It called in the security firm CrowdStrike to take a look.
Two hacker groups were found on the system, one that had just entered and another that had been there for nearly a year.

Still waiting to see what this Russian interference ever amounted to. If it amounted to a few Facebook messages, then that is no different to anybody else posting them.

Goodness me, not this old claptrap again.
Putin didn’t put Trump in White House in 2016 or cause Brexit, it was the electorate in both cases.

It's just so easy to point at Putin and shout "he did it"
If he denies it he's guilty, if he admits it he's guilty, if he says bugger all he's guilty.
It must be great for the powers that be to have such a convenient outlet

If there's a dossier with his signature on it he's what, not guilty? Wouldn't it be great if such a convenient outlet was removed by investigation and any doubt there by eliminated, it's to easy for newspaper's to say they've seen it and speculate but without pictures it didn't happen and therefore shouldn't be published, I'm not sure if a photo with Russian writing on it constitutes evidence either.

Re: Kremlin papers appear to show Putin’s plot to put Trump in White House
I've actually been shown documents with my signature on them, and it wasn't my signature.
I doubt they were the first or last forged documents ever
If the Americans can fake the moon landing and the Kennedy assassination, who knows what they're capable of . . .

They didn't fake Kennedy assassination, just lied about who did it

I thought that American serving in the kebab shop looked familiar but then again it may have been those beers beforehand.
