Web cache questions

Does anyone have any problems with any web cache hanging onto old pages?
Ignore "Ctrl+F5" "?" and meta tags in the headers for the time being, I'm talking about normal browsing.

Now, does anyone have any problems getting pages that have been recently updated on the host web server?

Does anyone have any problems with cache servers holding pages where the meta tag instructs the cache server to leave alone?

And is a cache server/proxy given an time frame before it checks for new page updates? or does is 'syncronise' (want of a better word) whenever a page is requested?

I will get round to reading some ciso wccp stuff next week but at the mo i have an exam on monday morning and i havnt picked the book up yet...

Re: Web cache questions

AFAIK this will be dependant on a whole series of factors including your own PC setup, router, firewalls and AV, the cache being used and also the websites own setup as well.

Given the large number of possible permutations this involves solutions to any given problem will require knowing more detail about each of those individual aspects.

I'm sure, however, if you follow the link to RDHW's site you will find all the key info on exactly how all this works.
