I assume your connecting via ethernet card? All's I did when wanting to run without the router, is just unplug from the router, and plug directly into the nic Dont need to make any changes.

As Steve said, also depending on if you spoofed the MAC address when you set up the router, you may need to switch the CM of for 30 seconds before you plug in the cable from your PC.
