New Installation Problems

Have had ntl installed in my flat yesterday (2pm) and still only get channels 1-4, and a handful of others. I know I was told it can take 24 hours but is this really true? Quite annoyed at the prospect of missing the football and NFL today.

Is there any point in me phoning faults? Or is there anything else I can do?

It can do but usually doesn't, try powering off and removing power cable.

Faults would be able to send the signal to your box.... if the order had been closed down. Sometimes theres problems provisioning boxes onto accounts and would need manual action on Monday by the dept that deals with it.

For when you do call them I would note down the serial number of both your set top box and your smart card, the tech may have called in a digit wrongly so the hit isn't getting to your box to activate it.

Thanks Fingy. That might be it. The install was scheduled for between 8 and 1 and he came at about 2 o clock. maybe he rushed it a bit and made an error

A new install ihave been to a lot of these As others have said write down your box details as they will ask for them.To check card status press page up page down and the blue button on page 3 i think does it say card not paired .All to cs might sort this a rehit might do it or a dummey box swap will sort it

Thanks guys.

Gave them the details and they re-sent the signal. No joy, Have to arrange for a technician to come. No available slots till next saturday (8-1). This does not fill me with hope since the original installation was meant to be 8-1 this saturday but he came at 2pm.

A bit of a farce really. Had to spend all day on the phone yesterday trying to get someone to activate my cable modem as well. the first person told me it would take an hour, it didn't. the second person hung up on me. The third person told me it would take 24 hours and then when i moaned enough they did it immediately.

It just makes you wonder if it's just pot luck whether you get through to someone who actually has a clue. Most of them seem happy enough to tell you to wait a certain amount of time (which normally coincides with when their shift will end).

This was all arranged 2 weeks ago and it looks like i'll end up missing the Ryder Cup as well.

I'll be getting Sky I think

Aghhh sorry this is one of my pet hates there is no need to send a tech if the process works .All you need is a dummey box swap for some daft unknown reason faults are unable to do this It is brought up every team brief .Surely some one might be able to help you .The techs in your aera must be very busy .
