General PC Optimisation discussion

If anyone wants to know/post about any PC optimisation techniques (not specific to NTL:TW) say and I will post a list of all the things I do to my and others machines to try tweak the buggers.

These include things like Hard Drive Tools, BIOS Flashing (GPU and Mainboard), Driver updates/issues, Hardware Upgrades, Cooling, General System upgrades, Registry tweaks, advice on hardware buys etc...

This is just a general help all thread with specific advice for specific questions... Got an issue - just post.

Re: General PC Optimisation discussion

Why don't you write it anyway and get it posted as an article? PM a mod and I'm sure they would be happy to post it there?

Unfortunately not all people can afford to buy top of the line equipment and they may just want to be able to get the best out of the machine.

I bought some great kit but still stripped down windows to maximise the hardware.

MSI P4N Diamond
P4 3GHZ Single core (bottle neck) (Stock fan)
2GB CORSAIR TWINX 667MHZ RAM
Dual 7800GTX SLI 450 Core 1200 RAM

Re: General PC Optimisation discussion

My main point is you cant fit everything into one thread. Have alook at the IT section and you will see loads of tweak ,hardware, software, upgrade threads etc all over the place.

Re: General PC Optimisation discussion

I think the OP wants to produce a guide of their tips rather than the general ones we all suggest?
