New install on Saturday

Hi,

I'm getting NTL Tv+phone package installed on Saturday. I was wondering how flexible the installation guys are as I want to run my cable up from the ground on one side of the house through the loft and then out the other side into the front room where the TV is.

Is thre anything I should be asking or watching out for?

Also, if I want to run a feed off my existing socket to supply my analogue TV's with terrestial 1-5 does the engineer have to fit something to my master socket?

cheers

Re: New install on Saturday

I think that regarding flexibility, some of it depends on the engineer.
When they installed my line they refused to put the TV point where I wanted it because it would have involved them using the floor cavity of my house, which they would not / could not do.

I had to do the messy bits myself after they left.

The chances of them going into your loft is slim. Health and Safety issues. But you could offer to get in there yourself, but there will be a time factor in this too. Yours won't be their only job to do.

As for the terrestrial aerial, easiest option is to connect scart leads between the TV and STB, leaving the RF aerial feed from the roof for your TV coaxial.

Re: New install on Saturday

Actually as I live in a really bad reception areal I have no TV aerial and pick them up using my sat dish. I was hoping to use the feed that comes down from the NTL cable line to feed the rest of the house.

Does the engineer have to do something different on the master socket or will I be able to run both from it.
