Anyone in the RM3 area

In about 4 weeks time I shall be moving to the RM3 area and am wondering whether to change my broadband.

At the moment i'm in CM23 on 10meg but only get about 5.5meg, what are the speeds like in RM3. If they are not good I may downgrade to 4meg and save some money.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Anyone in the RM3 area

Don't live in Harold Hill (further up the road than that) but our areas are served by the same ubr at Popular. I don't have 10mb now due to cost cutting, on 2mb and waiting for the 4mb upgrade.

As for the 10mb, if I could afford it again, I would get again in a second. Frankly, it was excellent. Can't talk about peak times as I work diffrent shifts, but at my "peak" times, I got the full 10mb no probs. Sometimes I was at home between 3-6pm and got the full 10mb, but I don't know about the evening peak times though.

If you want 10mb, will use it and can afford it, go for it. You can always change tiers if the speed isn't good enough.

Re: Anyone in the RM3 area

Thanks Neptune, think I might do as you suggest and stay with 10 meg and see how it goes.

Re: Anyone in the RM3 area

I'm very near to that area (at the moment), if you want UK sites then you'll get the full 10 meg, but US sites and some Euro sites are appalling due to bad peering at any time of day.

You can always make more than one connection to the server (if you can) that will generally bring in almost full 10 meg speed.

If you get the chance try comparing a ZEN or BE DSL connection with NTL, my experience is their speeds are vastly superior at all times of day, but of course thats just my opinion/experience.
