Problem watching DVDs on Laptop.

A friend of mine is having problems watching DVDs on his laptop. He's using Windows Media player and not having any luck at all. The strange thing is that he's also got Media Player on his PC and has no problems watching them at all. Any idea what the problem with his lappy may be?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem watching DVDs on Laptop.

afaik you need a special program on to be able to watch dvds on a pc, when you have it, it allows viewing of the dvd through most mediums.

I've got Intervideo windvd - seems good enough.

Re: Problem watching DVDs on Laptop.

You need a DVD Codec of some sorts to be able to play DVDs on Windows, Windows may come with the programs but comes with no Codecs for playing them.

Re: Problem watching DVDs on Laptop.

Sometimes you need to open the program supplying the codec (WinDVD, PowerDVD etc) before it can then be used in WMP.
