No idea why you've suddenly such high apparent speeds, the speeds you're reporting are impossible on Telewest's network, and if you check your cable modem it'll agree that it can't go that fast.

It might be a bit excessive but that ADSLGuide test seems wrong, I can't get download that high on 100Mbit dedicated from ADSLGuide.

Re: Telwest Testign 100MBit?

It could be Telewest's bandwidth limiting software malfunctioning on your UBR, for the sake of everyone else in your area, lets hope its sorted soon eh?

Re: Telwest Testign 100MBit?

ive already reported it incase it is a fault, allow the tech support never believe me until i gave them the link

ingintion i dnt know because i was acutally downloading at 7.2mb/sec from gigabit server i know in sweden, that why i ran teh speed test caus eiwas getting such fast speed, but i do agree i check the modem as wlel and it still said 10mbit that why i was wondering if it was telewest testing 100mbit by accident

but im totally confussed past the fact i got it, from my experaince your very knowledge user and i believe what you say ingition but i jsut cnt explain how got them speeds or that test result, is it possiable it is a fault on the ubr?

Re: Telwest Testign 100MBit?

Your modem is not capable of delivering that much bandwidth to be honest that's why I'm a bit confused.

Even if uBR isn't limiting you in any way you still shouldn't be able to get those kinds of speeds, your modem will only be capable of 38Mbit/s.

The most that any cable modem that isn't DOCSIS 3 can do is 51Mbit/s and I think your modem is of the type that only goes up to 38.

Oh well, we'll see.

BTW The upstream should be throttled by the modem however your upstream speed test is about as high as your modem can do without any capping at all (allowing the other people in the area a little bandwidth )

Am sure they'll be able to find something, it's a new one on me. You cannae change the laws of physics and they say 7.2MB/s is impossible on normal non-DOCSIS 3 cable, as is your ADSLGuide speed test.

Andrewcrawford, try the speed test on this forum (go to the top of this page, and look for the "Speed Test" link somewhere in the middle.

Although if he's using Internet Explorer to download, it is possible that's wrong. I've had some frankly bizarre speeds quoted to me by the IE download dialog.

it was via a ftp program and there normally quite accurate for me

i would try it but the speed have went back to normally about 10-15 minutes after i done the test and was gettign them very high speeds i love to be able to get anotehr test done sayign them speeds incase there a serious fault giving peopel moreless uncapped service

---------- Post added at 13:52 ---------- Previous post was at 13:46 ----------

i even managed to get approximently 2-3mb/sec on blueyonder newsgroups which latelly i was only gettign 400-600kb/sec on it im really baffled why i got them speeds

hence why i made the topic telewest testign 100mbit because it only seem possiable to me that hwo i would have got them speeds but goign onigintion i couldnt get them anyway because of the modem

btw the modem is WebSTAR DPX100

Re: Telewest Testing 100MBit?

I got a whole episode of Battlestar Galactica from bitorrent the other day and it downloaded in about 10 mins, im on Telewest Broadband 4meg Blueyonder Connection but it feels faster, it's better than the BT Broadband which is in my own opinion a load of CRAP.
