New to Broadband-Advice Please

I recently joined NTL 1 Mg cable Broadband, from other dial-up, and would appreciate some starter advice.
Is it better to leave the puter on all night and ,if so, in what screen? or is it better to switch off and boot-up in the morning, then click on NTL icon, or doesn't it matter?
I don't need it on all night so what do home users advise?

we've got a router here - so that stays on all the time. Why not just set your computer to go onto standby or something after an hour or so etc - you can do it in power options in control panel

and oh yeah - thats the main advantage with cable over adsl in that you don't have to 'connect' as I think you are referring to. Assuming the ntl infrastucture is working - lol

Leave everything on if your downloading, if not, just turn off your pc via the normal shutdown. as for the cable modem I leave mine on
