Lockerbie Luxury
http://edition.cnn.com/2003/US/11/20/panam103.ap/
What do you guys think about this? It makes my blood boil..
Why do we always get some pro-rights nobbo, going on about the rights of the convict whilst ignoring the rights of their victims.
Can you believe that he has a "suite" in prison with access to Sky and a PC with Internet access. According to the News of the World, he does. [mind you that's hardly proof].

Re: Lockerbie Luxury
I would say the news of the world got it right, I saw this on tv this morning. somebody got a camera in there and let me say this, his cell looks better, with more mod cons than a lot of bedsits I have lived in.
if this is the standard of punishment (I don't know if thats the right word anymore) in prisons, no wonder the crime rate is so bad.
this country needs a sentance to equal the crime.
blow the bugger up.

It's less of a sentence and more of a compulsory holiday

Re: Lockerbie Luxury
I got to agree with the father of one of the victims, this guy has his punishment (whether or not we agree with the terms doesnt matter). The real murderer is Gaddaffi, the person put on trial was only someone doing his job.
At first I thought this statement was incredible, then I sat and thought about it and he is right, Gaddaffi is the one that should be languishing in prison.

Agreed, Gaddaffi is the man, he is a cold blooded murderer, but would you believe it, he heads up the UN Human Rights Commission, somewhere the UN lost its way!

Re: Lockerbie Luxury
Well, the guy has been taken away from his home and familly. he is surrounded by people that dont talk is language. Its not as if he can go down to the shops and pich up a bag of chips. He will be in there for the next 27 years.
He is not exactly a young man so there is a possibility he will die in prison. People forget what a loss of personal freedom is.
I remember not going out my flat for a week as i was ill......did my head in after a couple of days.
At least he is in Glasgow serving his time and not in Libya.

And people say he's got a cushy time of it.
OK, OK, that was a JOKE, I love Glasgow, I used to live there and I want to move back ...
But a 27-stretch in Bar-L ... sheesh. Rather him than me.

Re: Lockerbie Luxury
You guys have a funny sense of what a prison should be. In my mind, it should be different from what that guy is getting.
Ah well, it isn't my taxes that is going to support him.

Re: Lockerbie Luxury
Maybe we should send him a Laura Ashley catalogue to help him design the decor? Lawrence Lewellyn-Bowen might be free?

Re: Lockerbie Luxury
Whilst we nash our teeth in regard to the luxurious conditions that Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, aged 51 enjoys at Barlinnie prison let's think about the political prisoners let alone criminal prisoners in Lybia. You can imagine the hell that Lybian prisons are. One wonders how many would like to swop places? Whilst Gaddaffi enjoys his role as Chairman, at the UN Human Rights Commission just take a look at this web page from Reporters sans frontiÃÃâ€*’¨re s;
