Question Moving House

I'm about to move house and want to take my NTL broadband with me (as BT seem only to be able to offer 1MB ADSL! I'm on 10MB with NTL).

I used the post-code checker online and was told that "broadband is not available in my area" (althought I had to manually type my address in, as the drop list did not bring up my new house number, only 1 number was listed)

When I called NTL they checked my postcode and said that the area was covered for Broadband.

Who should I believe the website or the operator?

Re: Moving House

Believe Nothing. trust Noone.

I would have thought NTL would be the ones to trust.
There's only so much a webbased postcode checker can do.

Re: Moving House

Don't trust what NTL customer service tell you. They played that trick on me. I told them I was moving so wanted to cancel my account, they insisted that they could supply my new house and wanted to transfer services to the new address even though there is no cable down the street and the website said it wasn't available. There trick is to keep you going until just before you move, then they keep charging you after you have moved because they say YOU didn't give them warning that you couldn't take their services where you were going to. Be very careful, I am still arguing with them a month after having moved, they can't get it through their heads why I won't pay the bill for my old house after I left! Best thing to do is ask the current people living in your new house whether NTL is available in that street, and believe the answer they give you. NTL do not have a clue!
