Re: Samsung STB

The firmware could be updated, but only by ntl. Modifying the hardware or software in the TV reception equipment (which is owned by ntl) is against the Terms & Conditions, and possibly illegal under Intellectual Property laws.

EDIT: As it happens, the Ethernet connection on the Samsung SMT2100-C STB is already 100Mbps autosensing.

so when it is connected it oly connects at 10mb and when tested with network tester it is only 10mb and many threads on this forum state it is only 10mb

Re: Samsung STB

Why do you need it to go faster than the incoming broadband speed you can handle?

Any modern bit of kit that's attached to the broadband connection will be autosensing? Certainly network cards are generally 10/100 speeds. Similarly routers WAN ports for attachement to modems will either be 10 or 10/100 speeds.

In practice the STBs can't get as high as 10meg broadband so a 10meg network connection is more than ample.
