Unable to see certain sites!!!

I was unable to see www.imageshack.us for days, it just stopped working by itself. First I thought the issue might be with them but then I connected my laptop to the network and it worked from my laptop.

Anyways, I'm running the same software on my desktop pc, as I am on my laptop, only difference being the IP, ISP still the same, Blueyonder - of course.

So, I was convinced this was because of my IP. I called Telewest on couple of occasions and wanted to change my IP (as you may know from the previous topic) but wasn't able to as the network would assign me the old one no matter how long I waited.

Meanwhile, some other pages stopped working for me, most important one being www.rapidshare.de.

So i called them again and they told me to install drivers for usb cable (I've been connected through LAN cable) and that should give me new IP. So it did, and www.imageshack.us is working for me now! BUT www.rapidshare.de is still not!

While on my laptop, everything is fine. I really don't know what to do anymore, has anyone got any ideas? Could it be some kinda virus? (Although I've scanned for spyware and viruses and it's all clear) or is it "Network Card"?

Re: Unable to see certain sites!!!

Are you running and firewall on the PC that won't connect? Also what operating system are you running, what browser are you using and was anything altered or installed prior to the loss of sites?

Re: Unable to see certain sites!!!

Right now firewall (Norton Internet Security 2004) is running but I've been using it forever and the sites worked fine!

I also tried to disable/unninstall firewall and even then those sites just won't load regardless!

I've two browsers installed - Firefox 1.5 and IE and using Windows XP. I didn't install any programs prior to this but I did restore my PC to factory setting 20 days ago as it was crashing when opening DC++, IE, trying to enable LAN... well almost all the time.

Any ideas?
