Ive had it with NTL

For the past week we have had download speeds of 35kb/s

It starts off at around 80 and works its way down and hangs areound 35kb/s

The PC we use cable has no peer-to-peer

I have been on the phone with NTL support 3 times in this time for atleast 30 minutes each. First time was given a proxy and that worked for 10 minutes after i hung up.

Second time i was told my connection would be reset from there end and this takes some time so i could hang up.

Third time the guy was absolutly lost, he got me to switch to Ethernet and helped me trough it. After it was done he said let us know how you get on and hung up.

Each and everytime i ring NTL there support is never satisfactory.

I am seriously thinking of disconnecting there service, and maybe re-connecting and see if they enjoy taking the long road.

P.S Does you speed go down if you go over the download threshold?

Windows XP SP2
Ethernet Connection

Re: Ive had it with NTL

I've had the same issue. I'm beginning to wonder if the 10MB upgrade is the cause.

I appear to still be on the 3MB tier, but my speed has gone to crap. Leading me to think that many people in my general area are taking full advantage of 10MB and maxing out the available bandwidth. It has gradually gotten worse over the past few days and I've tried a modem recycle, checking my wireless kit etc and it's certainly on NTL's end.

Re: Ive had it with NTL

Im not sure if we have any heavy users in the area but i have noticed on a seperate wireless network we have via ADSL a number of new wireless connections as to before where i was the only one.

Is this 10MB users taking advantage of there high speed.

If it was going to have so much effect on us 1MB users why can they not upgrade us to 3MB that way we might me able to get our 1MB speed.

Its funny how it starts at high from 80-100 and drops so low. Ive just seen it go down to 16mb/s and that just had me pull me hair out.

It seems NTL has no idea whats going on here, do not accept there is a problem and do not want to do anything.

First thing when i can speak to customer service i am off BB.

think you need to check out our diagnostics and try a different proxy it would help if you specified the area of the country

Re: Ive had it with NTL

After hours on the phone and god nows how much money spent on the phone with ntl techi they have arranged an engineer to come around.

The whole thing has bafled ntl and myself. I have formated the pc and it is squeeky clean, can't understand what is going on.

Speakeasy Speed Test: Prepare to be shocked

Last Result:
Download Speed: 187 kbps (23.4 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 86 kbps (10.8 KB/sec transfer rate)

This was what i was getting most of the time. Remember its a 1MB connection, supposedly
