Weather predicting clothes pegs
A final year student at Brunel University has come up with a weather-predicting clothes peg.

Finally a sensible idea (you would only need one of these pegs to check the weather as the cost could get a bit scary).

If rain is forecast within the next half hour, the peg will lock itself. 
so if you go out and come back just before the rain starts your clothes are locked on the line

Unfortunately the system has no way of protecting clothes from the rain once they are hung. Equally they will not lock to prevent the clothes being removed in the event of a downpour.
