Dumbing down a smartphone
Looking for a simple to use smartphone, not for me but a very non tec savy friend. Any hints , suggestions most welcome

well lets be honest then. If you go down the android or apple route each type is pretty much the same. Perhaps a Google Pixel A model might be a good idea as it has virgin android without any skinned UI or Bloatware

You could possibly set the phone up and then give them a limited account a bit like a child account on family system. That way they are at less risk of breaking something but still can have all the apps etc that are needed.

for my Mum I deleted most Apps so that there was simply just the Phone, Contacts, and Messages.
Still had most of the capabilities of a smart phone but got rid of everything she didnt need.

That was the route I thought to go down, will treat her in the new year. Question does it matter what model I get, only with my tablet I Could remove more on Samsung than I could on the lenovo.

The iPhone has a assistive access mode now that you can dumb the it right down to.

Google phones might run a bit expensive but they AOSP and has the least bloatware out there and a fair few standard apps can be removed also
