I am a great believer in the fact that EVERYONE is equal. No matter they are Black or white. No matter what religion they.

Christmas is about giving, forgiving people. When l was growing up as kid. I didn't know about Xmas. As l never got anything.

Now, l have everything l need a loving wife of 40 years, three great kids and 4 Grandchildren. I never get l wanted though - a Spurs season ticket.

My Daughter got me a Spur tour of the ground though.

Xmas is about Store making money, that's it. Profit.

There will always be a problem.

But my motto is sit down, plenty of booze and forget about everything

I have always thought of Christmas as family time, doesn't happen now though, but we used to have big family Christmas dinners with 20-30 family member as least gathered in my Aunt's house and I used to love it. Sadly people growing up and some people passing away it just doesn't happen at all anymore.

This year like the last two will just by me the wife and my dad for dinner and no doubt we will go see my mum who is in a care home.

Yep the Christmas's of my childhood are some of my fondest memories all the family together at my nans house having a good time and all the usual animosity put on hold. Definately seems to be a thing of the past now sadly and in some families now it's a popularity contest on who can get the most people at their house rather then all getting together. Progress has bought us many wonderful improvements to our lives but it's also taken a couple. Regardless i hope everyone on cable forum has a good christmas or festive period and can spend the time with their loved ones.

Unfortunately Christmas reminds me of when my father left
nowadays I follow the Austrian (and others) of getting it over and done on Christmas Eve

And this year I am making vegatarian lasagne

My point is you can make it whatever you want and enjoy for whatever reasons so long as the sense of friendship and love are remembered, there are no specific rules

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. (Yes it is a hijacked pagan festival but is the date that was chosen for the celebration partly to counter that pagan festival but also because we don't know the actual date.)

And those of other faiths have no issue with it being Christmas and it being a Christian celebration and calling it Christmas. It's usually only the secular lefties who claim that it upsets those of other faiths when really it's them that are upset by the nomenclature.

I think it's important to celebrate Christmas, regardless of whether you are Christian or not, and regardless of whether you are even religious or not.

Why? Because it's good to spend time with your friends and family, and it's good to have at least a couple of days when people can forget work.

Yes, not everyone gets a day off at Christmas, but hopefully those who do work over Christmas do get other days in lieu.

I am not religious so being told to join in with religious acts would really get my goat.

It's a holiday, like Easter, not a religious festival to most these days.

Ditto the saints days in Ireland and Scotland. Do the Irish and Scots flood to church to celebrate their national saint? Or do they flood to the pub?

Well my boss is a total miser that makes Scrooge look like a saint.

Every year we go through the same carp we won't know what time we will be finishing on Christmas Eve or this year Friday until a few days before and everyone is too afraid to ask as the miser is liable to get the hump and say full working day.

This year with no canteen there will be no cooked Christmas dinner like previous year.

The truth being told the only reason we are getting paid for the Bank Holiday Monday is the law says so (despite it is one of our
holiday entitlement).

I think the worst time l had from an employer, was l worked for a large cleaning company - begins with an 'O'. We got a £5.00 voucher to spend at a local Harvester.

I sent mine back, and said buy yourself a pint. After all the profit they made that year. I have heard of scrooge.

Most companies dont give you anything at all, so it seems to me you should have been a little more grateful tbh.

at VM we get 35 quid so we can go out and celebrate with all the annoying twonks we work with [we are off out for a curry followed by beer what could go wrong ]

Christmas traditions?

A Christmas Carol starts on Christmas Eve 1843 with Scrooge at his money-lending business. He despises Christmas as a "humbug" and subjects his clerk, Bob Cratchit, to grueling hours and low pay. He shows his cold-heartedness toward others by refusing to make a monetary donation for the good of the poor, claiming they are better off dead, thereby "decreasing the surplus population."

IIRC Scrooge wasn't even prepared to let Cratchit have Chistmas day off.
