Re: Issues

1) You need to work out what the problem is to start off with (router's internet connection or wifi) and the only way you can do that is by connecting a pc/laptop directly to your Linksys router using a patch cable. If it works then you know there is something wrong with the wifi settings and you can go to http://192.168.1.1 and log into the Linksys and have a look at the settings etc. If you haven't got internet access using a wired connection then you need to take the Linksys out of the equation altogether and see if it is the shub which is at fault (your old one) and run your patch straight into port 1 on the shub. When you do that reboot the shub so it registers the new mac address the device you are using can get a new ip. If you can connect to the internet then you know there is something wrong with your Linksys and if you can't then you know there is something wrong with the shub.

VM are very rigid about removing any 3rd party equipment when doing fault diagnosis and making a direction so the shub so the fact that they have sent you a new shub makes me think that they think the shub is at fault which would edge toward the latter statement in my previous paragraph.

2) A new shub needs to be registered on VM's network by ringing the phone number provided in the new box. Once that is done your new shub will normally be activated within 4 hours. Until that happens your old shub will continue to work on the network (presuming it isn't faulty).

Now that you have got a new shub the best thing you can do is get it activated, put it in modem mode, let it reboot and then connect your Linksys to it (reboot that as well so everything is fresh) and see how things go. Remember the Linksys needs to go in to port 1 on the shub and nowhere else.
