Recordings are sticking
Recently we have found that some of our recordings have paused by themselves and it is a devil to move it on. Sometimes we have to start again from the beginning and at other times we have to go back to live TV and re-start the recording. We have to avoid the place in the recording that stuck before otherwise it sticks again.
Does anyone else have this problem? I have a nasty feeling that my Tivo might be on its way out.

Re: Recordings are sticking
Haven't seen this problem but the symptoms you describe would suggest if you phone up about it that they will replace the box.

Re: Recordings are sticking
I will try to live with it then, as I want to hold on until the autumn, firstly so that I have a chance to see all my recordings during the summer time when there is precious little on the box, and secondly so that I can get the new TIVO (fingers crossed!).
Thanks for your help, arcimedes.

Re: Recordings are sticking
Are you watching something that started a few minutes before you started watching the recording? I have had brain freeze and, after skipping the ad breaks, found myself with a "stuck picture". It's not stuck as such, I had just caught up to real time of the programme!

Re: Recordings are sticking
No, Taf, these are all instances where the recordings have completed - sometimes the same day but others are quite old now.

I had the same problem. At first I could sometimes fast forward through the stuck bit or just leave it and it would eventually carry on.
After a while it started to get worse, whole bits of recordings would be missing, suddenly starting 55 minutes into a 60 minutes programme yet saying it was an hour long. I also noticed the tell tale clicking of the hard drive on occasions. I looked online for procedures to error check or fix a TiVo disk in a Virgin box (there are key press sequences you can do on other models to get perform one). Unfortunately there aren't any.
I tried to watch as much as I could but it got to the point where the box itself was locking up along with the clicking hard disk and needing to be hard powered to get it working again.
In the end I had to ring faults and get the box replaced.
