Wireless headphones advice needed
The missus occasionally likes to watch TV in peace and quiet and I'm thinking about buying her some wireless headphones. I bought a pair some years ago but the reception was very variable and tbh they were usually more trouble than they were worth. Since such things have moved on a lot, I'm wondering if there's another, better way of achieving the same result which would be comfortable to wear, easy to use and with good reception from a TV set about about 15 feet away from her sofa. I'm presuming they'd plug into the TV somehow as opposed to the STB or whatever. Having already shelled out for a laptop and lots of other things I don't want to spend a great deal and I'm not looking for audiophile quality. Any advice appreciated as always.

Maybe Bluetooth headphones and a Bluetooth sender - there are some not horrendously priced Bluetooth headphones, and the 10m Bluetooth standard is usually good for it - and Bluetooth is a STANDARD.

Re: Wireless headphones advice needed
I have tried 4 different top brand setups, and they all suffered from very noticeable mains hum.
Then I bought a setup from Home Bargains, and despite being cheap (about £5 I think) they are excellent.

Sounds like a possibility. Thanks.

Yes with my set the reception is very variable and there's always some hissing or whatever in the background. Any idea why the cheapo ones are better?

Re: Wireless headphones advice needed
Mains hum on wireless headphones only occurs if your transmitter isn't connected correctly.

Re: Wireless headphones advice needed
Well I bought a set of Bluetooth headphones from Aldi and they're really good. She's been using them with her tablet and is delighted with them but if she wants TV connection I'll just buy a Bluetooth transmitter.
Cheers all.

Re: Wireless headphones advice needed
my cheap "Welltech" ones from lidl are ok, nothing special, but good enough for watching TV when the missus has gone to bed early. overnight charge in the base station(which plus into the mains, and then a normal headphone lead into socket on TV) lasts for ages.
keep an eye on hotukdeals, every now and again Sennheisers go cheap, I guess when a new model comes out.
my headphones have a volume control, but the TV as well as having the normal speaker control has a headphone volume, I don't very often have to fiddle with them, but sometimes that helps, or adjusting the frequency.
