Will accepting Sky Sports 5 on VM mean a new contract?

On Sky, viewers are required to register to receive this channel even though there is no extra charge.

This is so Sky can try to flog their two year broadband offer to customers. Those who take the free broadband offer are tied in for a further 18 months. This is reduced to 12 months for new customers and 0 for those not taking the broadband offer.

As there are no Sky broadband considerations to make on the VM platform, I was wondering how this would affect VM customers.

Will VM use this new channel as an excuse to tie people into new contracts?

As part of the deal, maybe Sky have insisted that VM customers subscribe to Sky Sports for a minimum term as a requirement to receive Sky Sports 5 at no extra charge?

Hopefully, it will just come on with no fuss for those taking Sky Sports considering the outrageous prices that Sky charge.

Thought Virgin had already said it was going to be included in the sports package? No new contract as far as I know, unless you change packages.

Re: Will accepting Sky Sports 5 on VM mean a new contract?

There is no tie-in for Sky customers who have opted for Sky Sports 5.

There is an optional Sky Broadband offer which runs alongside the Sports 5 activation.

And there is no additional charge for Sky Sports 5.
